All three partners enjoy a strong history and excellent relationship in delivering world-class training, teaching and learning experiences for students undertaking a wide range of health and social care courses and qualifications.
These all share the common aim of improving the health and wellbeing of society and making a difference to lives of individuals, patients, carers and communities across Forth Valley and beyond.
They include innovative courses in nursing (The University of Stirling is ranked Top 5 in Scotland for Nursing) and paramedic science which combine academic learning, research and professional practice which give students the practical and modern skills needed to excel in their career. Forth Valley College also offers a wide range of courses and apprenticeships for individuals interested in working within the health and care sectors. These cover areas such as social care, early education and childcare, introduction to nursing, healthcare and working with communities.
Initial priorities include:
- The development of skills boost scheme across the region designed to meet the needs of local employers and businesses with a focus on health and care.
- Work to attract more people to work in health and social care in partnership with the NHS Youth Academy
- Identify funding streams to support the delivery of new training and learning opportunities which will help meet current and future workforce needs with an initial focus on physiotherapy (pre and post registration)
- Undertake a feasibility study for the creation of a new Clinical Skills and Simulation infrastructure project (based at University of Stirling and NHS Forth Valley)
- Promote learning and career pathways for school pupils to employment within NHS Forth Valley
